Mass Photometry (MP) and Macro Mass Photometry (MMP) are complementary, label-free techniques that analyze biomolecules and therapeutic vectors directly in solution with single-particle resolution. Both rely on light scattering to generate an interference signal called contrast, but they differ in what they reveal.
MP measures contrast proportional to particle mass, enabling direct mass determination and delivering insight into purity, aggregation, stability, oligomeric states, stoichiometry, and affinity. MMP extends this capability by adding a size dimension, allowing simultaneous measurement of particle diameter and contrast (as a proxy for mass) to better capture size distributions, heterogeneity, and stability trends. This webinar will compare MP and MMP side by side, using application datasets across biomolecules eg: proteins, mRNA, viral and non-viral vectors. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of when to apply each technology and how, together, they provide a comprehensive picture of molecular quality and critical attributes—enabling data-driven decisions across the drug development pipeline, from discovery through process development and into QC release in GMP environments.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the principles of Mass Photometry (MP) and Macro Mass Photometry (MMP) — what each technology measures, how they differ, and why they are complementary.
- Recognize the efficiency advantages of MP and MMP, including simpler workflows, lower sample requirements, reduced cost per analysis, and the ability to measure multiple attributes in a single experiment.
- Evaluate key analytical applications — such as assessing size, purity, aggregation, stability, oligomeric states, stoichiometry, and affinity — and determine which are best suited to MP or MMP.
- Apply MP and MMP insights across the drug development pipeline, from discovery through process development to QC release to make faster, cheaper, and more data-driven decisions.
Webinars will be available for unlimited on-demand viewing after live event.
